RE-ELECT ALLISON EWERS FOR TEMPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BOARD
Nuestras escuelas públicas deben ser lugares de aprendizaje. Sin importer la origen nacional, raza ni las condiciones económicas de sus familias, todos los niños en Tempe deberán tener acceso a una educación pública de primera calidad en la escuela en su barrio.
Focusing on Student Growth, Fiscal Responsibility, Children’s Safety, and Teacher Compensation and Well-being.
In Allison’s first term, the board built a strategic plan, implementing new innovative ways to support student growth, adding all-day kindergarten, and broadening wrap-around services (most importantly, fentanyl education, including getting Narcan into every school).
Allison is always working to provide better benefits and encouraging the staff to be proactive in their healthcare. Medical costs are rising at an incredible rate, so focusing on how to offer multiple plans - including a no cost plan - to the district employees, is what Allison works on daily. The well-being of the staff is critical.
Recipient of the Phoenix Film Festival 2015 Visionary Award.
Allison has seen the educational success of other countries and knows that it is time to re-imagine the way we teach our scholars for the future.
Allison helped with community approval to bring human growth and well-being and emotional and social curriculum to the classroom.

School Board members have one vote but we are a total of 5. I have had the pleasure of serving 4 years with my current board. We come from different parties and professions, but we have one thing in common: we want the best for our kids. I say "we" because it took the entire board to address the hard choices we have to make daily.
Yes, school board members are not paid and when you are on a primary ballot the large fundraising dollars are not sent our way. As school board members we are used to doing the best with what we have and being fiscally responsible.
In 2010, I was approached to invest in a charter school. My concern was that tax-payer dollars were going to these charters with no oversight and that the buildings bought with our tax dollars could be sold to enrich the individuals and not the community. That moment is when I knew I had to do all I could to make sure our public schools were so strong that the threats we see from charters and school vouchers (ESA's) would be irrelevant. The best way I found to do that, was serve my community by being on the school board.
